HONOURS ended even when Tattenhall made the short trip to Oakmere.

The hosts won the toss and chose to bowl in difficult conditions. John Gibbon was adjudged lbw with the score on 38 and soon after, Madhur Jethlia (36) departed to the same dismissal by the same bowler, Michael Cushion.

Ben Cooke hit 20 before losing his off-stump and Martin Roberts got himself in too, riding his luck before being run out in calamitous fashion.

The visitors only reaped four from a possible 10 batting bonus points but John Hope and Robin Mulvihill tried to post a competitive total.

Some big hitting from the right and left-hand combination saw a stand of 72 take the total to 185-6, Hope unbeaten on 36 and Mulvihill back in the shed for a quickfire 46.

Tattenhall made a quick start to their bowling too, Mulvihill (2-35) retaking Paul Yearsley’s leg-stump with the score on 12. Gary Forster (2-25) made the next breakthrough, accepting a return catch, and Peter Hutchinson was caught by Sandford.

Melvin Dobson (1-24) also toiled well at the other end, producing the mistake as Thomas Pilling sent up a steepler to be taken at extra-cover.

Morris (3-22) then gave the visitors both impetus and hope of a victory with three quick wickets.

But Oakmere’s batsmen were unable to continue the chase and with Tattenhall’s bowlers incapable of prising them out, the hosts finished on 130-8 to secure a share of the spoils.
