MALPAS entertained Tattenhall in the Cheshire County League Division Two and were subsequently crushed by their visitors.

Having been put in to bat on their home wicket, Malpas were bowled out for 52.

At 21-1 top scorer Lee Dwyer (14) somehow missed a swinging full-toss on his pads, only to be bowled off them and that sparked a spectacular collapse as opening bowlers Rob Mulvihill (6-25) and Alan Brock (4-25) cleaned house.

In response Tattenhall skipper Tom Hislop scored the lion’s share of his side’s runs as he posted 40no off just 24 balls in their 53-0 reply.

Fellow opener Oliver Thompson made 8no.

ALVANLEY went to Cheadle and suffered a much closer two-wicket defeat.

Batting first, Andy Hayhurst’s side set 125ao thanks in part to Mark Szymura’s stand of 23.

But most of Alvanley’s batsmen made a double-figure contribution in a good all-round batting display.

After tea Cheadle were more patchy with the bat, but just had enough to reel in their guests.

Despite Hayhurst leading from the front, taking four wickets for just 17 runs, there was enough offered in the bowling allow the home side a run at Alvanley.

Skipper Paul Sperring scored 30 and Greg Dixon added 28 as Cheadle finished on 126-8.
