SAUGHALL continued their excellent start to the Cheshire Alliance season by chalking up a resounding victory at home against Mossley.
Batting first, Saughall racked up the runs on a flat track. Adam Griffiths was the star of the show, scoring a stylish 108no as Saughall reached 207-7dec.
In reply, Mossley’s opening pair frustrated Saughall, surviving a couple of chances to reach 28-0 after 15 overs.
But the arrival of spin into the attack brought the required breakthrough.
Chris Andrews (4-7) took a wickets with his first delivery, spinning the ball through the defences of Benacom (12) and trapping him LBW.
After a frustrating period of little action, suddenly wickets began to fall.
Martin Huxley took a stunning reaction catch, while Mike Andrews took 5-22 as seven wickets tumbled for just eight runs.
Mossley, missing several key players, were dismissed for just 55.
In Division One, there was a nine-wicket defeat for FRODSHAM (81ao) against Rylands (85-1).
In Division Four, CAPENHURST triumphed in a low-scoring match at Wilmslow Wayfarers. The hosts were all out for 67 and Cape made it to 68-8 (Steve Batty 22).
