EDDIE Barlow played a starring role as Malpas returned from Northwich with a comfortable win in Division One.
Malpas put the hosts in to bat and Barlow took three wickets from four balls. Mark Goldsmith (5-20) and Dave Hunt (2-15) also weighed in and had Northwich all out for a paltry 41.
It didn’t take long to wrap up the points as Rishan Fernando (37) hit four fours and three sixes for magnificent Malpas.
They take on visiting Trafford Metrovics on Saturday with Malpas 2nds travelling to Metrovics 2nds.
Alvanley stunned promotion favourites Congleton with a superb 13-run success.
They started well with Andy Bennion and Dave Shewring hitting 47 runs apiece, before falling within moments of each other.
Skipper Mark Szymura and James Ackerley put on 35 to get their total back on track, with the hosts closing on 191-5.
Lee Ainsworth then trapped the prolific Porter (0) and Chris Charles followed with a yorker, as Congleton reeled at 0-2.
Ainsworth (2-9) deceived the next batsman to leave Alvanley pinching themselves at 2-3, but then Congleton’s Australian professional Bailly took a grip on proceedings.
And with the visitors just 15 runs from victory, Shewring (2-24) took the vital last wicket to secure a 25-point success.
Alvanley now sit in second spot and entertain Winnington Park on Saturday hoping to continue their excellent start to the season.
Barrow travelled to Trafford Metrovics and saw the hosts post a low 81ao total.
Barrow made it to 95 to seal the winning points. They play host to Ashton-on-Mersey this Saturday while the second team will travel to Over Peover 2nds.
