CHESTER Boughton Hall were the only side to claim a victory in the Premier Division of the County League on Saturday as rain caused havoc with matches across the county.

Hall tied up a fine seven-wicket success over title-chasing Hyde at Filkins Lane.

Winning the toss, skipper Steve Ogilby put Hyde in to bat on a damp wicket. The visitors made 225-5 off their 55 overs.

Undeterred at not having won since May 5, Chester opened up with a 94 stand between Warren Goodwin (60) and Ogilby, who went on to score 87.

Aussie Kumar Sarna chipped in with 39no at the end as Hall posted 227-3.

No play was possible in the NESTON v Marple match.

OULTON PARK lost out by five wickets to Brooklands in a high-scoring contest at Little Budworth.

Centuries from Danny Leech (100) and Martyn East (100) were in vain as Oulton Park failed to take advantage of being one of only two fixtures to beat the weather in Division One.

Alan Mills (23) was the only other Park batsman to make inroads in a declared score of 248-5.

Despite persistent drizzle, Brooklands got off to a flying start before being pegged back by Guy Emmett and Craig Williamson.

However, 94 from AJ Hart put Brooklands in the driving seat as Park failed to break partnerships.

Brooklands passed the hosts’ total with three overs to spare, posting a winning 244-5.

CHRISTLETON were frustrated by the wet weather at Irby.

The hosts posted 144-9 (Varun Sood 4-41, Iroshan de Silva 4-55). Christleton had reached a good-looking 117-2 (Ben Patterson 47no, De Silva 42) when the umpires called it off.

Only six County League matches achieved results, while 10 were abandoned at various stages and two were cancelled.
