SAUGHALL made it three Cheshire Alliance Division Two wins on the spin as they swept aside Ellesmere Port on Saturday.

The struggling visitors chose to take first use of a flat batting track only to be rocked when Lawrence Gotts (3-74) claimed the scalps of their openers.

Port recovered, however, and looked set to post a decent score when they reached 141-5. But they collapsed horribly, losing their last five wickets for just three runs with Dipak Jena (5-25) doing most of the damage.

Opener Martin Huxley (80no) then produced a vintage innings to fire Saughall to 146-4 and up to third in the early standings.

FRODSHAM’S unbeaten Division One run is now up to three matches, although they had to settle for a draw at home to Wilmslow on Saturday.

Captain Geoff Abram (80no), Jonathan Lewis (73), Tom Wilkinson (45) and Ged Swan (30no) let loose as Frodsham put on 249-9. Their hopes of victory were dashed, though, as the lowly away side held out on 169-6 (Martin Dodd 3-26).

CAPENHURST got off the mark in Division Three with a 121-run home success over The Groves 2nds.

Cape cracked 162-8 (A Walkeling 49, N Tilby 45) before snaffling their Ellesmere Port opponents up for just 41 (P Nale 3-6).
