Chester County Officers were defeated in their first ever visit to Division One table-toppers Stockport Georgians.

Officers batted first in glorious sunshine and Dave Downham (31) and Josh Sivier (22) were going well before dismissed by the Georgians spinners to leave the visitors at 80-4.

Roger Watt (55) and Skipper Chris Wright (28no) put on 60 and were in control with the score at 140-4 with ten overs to go, with a solid score of 200 looking seemingly achieveable.

However, the wheels came off when Georgians Aussie star Matt Grace returned for a second spell to take a remarkable five wickets in three overs to skittle Officers for an under-par 148.

After tea, Rhys Thomas bowled two batsmen to reduce Georgians to 7-2. Stockport’s Hayden Bailey was imperious, notching 80no in company with Grace (60no).

Officers were set back after ten overs when keeper Wright had to leave the field with a broken finger and the depleted squad could not stem the runs, losing by eight wickets and taking seven points to the home side’s 25.

Malpas were forced to settle for a draw from their trip to Romiley.

Taking to bat first the home side notched a total of 188-8, but Malpas responded during their time at the crease with 169-9 to earn the draw.

Oakmere fell to a seven-wicket defeat at Bollington as they continued their difficult start to the season.

The home side won the toss and elected to bowl and found Oakmere batsman Paul Yearsley in excellent form as he knocked 48 before being caught to set the visitors on their way to a total of 159-8 off their 45 overs.

However, Bollington knocked off the runs from their spell at bat, with Rick Hough (69) and H Imran (59) leading them to an impressive 162-3.

In Division Two, Kingsley fell to a disappointing eight-wicket defeat at home to Lymm Oughtrington Park.

Toby Mullins (32) was the high point for the homesters as they knocked 129-9, with Lymm claiming a comfortable triumph with 131-2 at the crease.

Bunbury claimed a home victory over Barrow in an entertaining encounter.

Electing to bat first, Barrow posted a strong 239-6 before declaring, but Bunbury were in superb form at bat, notching an impressive 240-1 off 41 overs.

Cholmondeley remain bottom of the league after falling to a battling 39-run defeat at second-placed Disley.

In the Cheshire Alliance, Saughall were beaten by four wickets at home to Appleton in Division One.

Batting first,Saughall reached 58-1 thanks to 31 from Mike Andrews and seemed well placed to push on to a commanding total.

However, when spin was introduced in to the attack, Saughall collapsed to 92-8 with only Martin Huxley (15) and Ben Salisbury (16) finding any answers.

A plucky 21 from Mandeep Singh and some rock-solid defence from veteran Brian Huxley ensured the hosts reached 111 before the last wicket fell.

Spinners E Rashid (3-25) and M Cooper (3-10) were the pick of the bowlers. A couple of early wickets in Appleton’s reply gave Saughall a glimmer of home but solid batting saw the visitors take control. Mike Andrews (2-27) took a couple of late wickets as Appleton reached 113-6 to claim victory.

In a close encounter, Ellesmere Port slipped to a narrow one-wicket defeat at Old Parkonians.

Port won the toss and elected to bat, being dismissed for 156ao, but the home side edged to victory with 159-9 from their spell at the crease.

In Division Two, Westminster Park moved up to fourth place with victory at home to Rylands.

The visitors won the toss and elected to bat but could not take full advantage as they could only register 71-9 from their 34.2 overs.

Pratik Damani was the dangerman for Park at the crease as he took control to notch 51no to see his side to a comfortable 74-4 to seal victory.

Park capped a winning weekend by making round three of the 40-Over KO Cup with a one-run triumph over Wistaston Village in a tense encounter.
