CHESHIRE LEAGUE

Chester Boughton Hall were dealt a blow in their bid to keep pace with the Cheshire Premier League leaders after they fell to a 63-run defeat at Timperley.

Batting first, the home side reached 224-6 after 55 overs with Danny Cooper’s 53 and Nathan Brown’s unbeaten 45 the high points as the Hall bowlers struggled, with Ross Dixon and Jack Williams accounting for four of the six wickets.

Hall struggled in their response with Dixon’s 39no their best as they were skittled for 161 in the 40th over. Jack White was chief tormentor as he took 5-47 for Timperley.

In Division One, Tattenhall remain rooted to the foot of the table after going down to a 44-run loss at Marple.

Tatters won the toss and inserted their hosts at bat and, thanks to efforts of 4-31 from Phil Johnson and 4-47 from Dave Shewring, ended Marple’s attacking endeavours at 178ao.

But Tattenhall couldn’t muster enough of a response as they were bowled out for 134 in 37 overs, with Brett Siebert’s 40 the standout performance from the visiting batsmen.

Elsewhere in Division One, Oulton Park (167-9) played out a draw at Cheadle Hulme (170-9).

Daniel Leech’s knock of 44 and a 40 from Guy Emmett lead the way for Park, who remain in mid table.

Visiting Alvanley couldn’t fend off a ruthless Stockport response in Division Two as they were beaten by seven wickets.

Inserted at bat, Alvanley made 180-9 in their 50-over spell at the crease, with Mark Szymura’s 44 the standout performance.

But the home side, behind Sam Edwards’ unbeaten 84 and a knock of 44 from Tom Facer, cantered to victory as they reached 182-3 in the 43rd over.

Christleton endured a miserable weekend as they were soundly beaten by eight wickets at home to Brooklands.

Josh Morgan-Jones’ 28 was as good as it got for the home side as they were all out for just 80, leaving Brooklands to ease their way to success with 83-2 in the 14th over thanks in no small part to Dan Duke’s 51no.

At Congleton, Barrow were on the wrong end of a 101-run defeat to leave them in the bottom two.

Batting first after winning the toss, Congleton racked up 187-9, with Jack Higginbotham hitting 84, as they went on the attack.

Barrow couldn’t respond in kind and were well beaten as they were skittled for just 86.

UK FAST LEAGUE

Kingsley suffered disappointment as they fell to an eight-wicket defeat at the hands of Port Sunlight in UK Fast Cheshire League Division Two.

Batting first, Kingsley were skittled for 77 and Port Sunlight made no mistake in their reply, reaching 78-2 in the 13th over.

An unbeaten knock of 60 from Rick Lyons helped Oakmere to a convincing eight-wicket success over visiting Woodford.

Harrison Jones took 4-42 as Woodford were ended at 122ao and Oakmere made no mistake and reached 123-2 with ease as lex Hodges also aided the effort with 35.

In Division Three, Chester County Officers drew at home with Appleton.

Appleton, batting first, reached 177-5 while Dave Downham’s 31 helped Chester to 149-9 in their response.

Bunbury were beaten by six runs at Wilmslow in a keenly contested affair

Wilmslow reached 168ao from their spell at the crease and Bunbury fell just short of victory as they were skittled for 162 in the 43rd over.

CHESHIRE ALLIANCE

In Cheshire Alliance Division One, Saughall were soundly beaten at Cholmondely.

Winning the toss and batting first, the Saughall innings failed to get going apart from Chris Andrews’ 46 as they were all out for 105.

Cholmondeley reached their target in double-quick time, reaching 106 with the loss of just two wickets.

In Division Two, a strong batting performance couldn’t prevent Frodsham from falling to defeat at the hands of Trafford Metrovics.

Batting first, Frodsham reached 225-2 but Trafford edged themselves home as they posted 226-4 in their response.
