SAUGHALL moved up to third in the Cheshire Alliance Division Two table with a comfortable home victory over basement boys Offerton.
The visitors batted first and reached 50-1, making the most of some uncharacteristic butter-fingered fielding.
Mike Andrews (4-20) swung the game Saughall’s way, literally, with a devastating spell of bowling, moving the ball both ways as Offerton slumped to 59-5.
Knowles (35) counter-attacked with some uncomplicated swinging from the hip but got little support from the other end as the visitors were dismissed for a poor 111.
Spinner Chris Andrews took 2-12 while Lawrence Gotts (4-45) wrapped up proceedings.
Saughall’s reply got off to a stuttering start, Martin Huxley (3) and Adam Griffiths (6) both dismissed early to leave the score 23-2. But James Huxley (39no) and Chris Andrews (47no) ensured that Saughall reached 112-2 after 20 overs.
In Division One, mid-table FRODSHAM won by 68 runs at Wilmslow Wayfarers. Frodsham scored 176-9 with Christian Sandbach hitting 53 and Gavin Houghton 57. Wayfarers were then bowled out for 108 Richard Warburton 4-50).
At Capenhurst, the home side (165-2) beat Appleton 2nds (161-9) by eight wickets in Division Three.
