ALVANLEY made a dream return to the County League with a home victory over Malpas in Division Two.

The visitors were put in to bat first on a wet pitch and Chris Charles (2-19) struck first with two quick wickets.

Only Eddie Barlow (28) showed any resistance for Malpas as Robin Fisher (6-35) was in outstanding form.

Dave Shewring also claimed two victims as Malpas were all out for 72 in the 32nd over.

Alvanley had 68 overs available to win the game but made short work of their target.

Jack Yates saw his team home in spectacular style, smashing 21 off an over, including three consecutive sixes, to end with 31no as Alvanley reached a winning 73-3.

A batting collapse saw TATTENHALL fall to defeat at Stockport.

The visitors, whose plans were hit when three players, including two top order batsmen, arrived late due to travel difficulties, were put in to bat first.

Openers Roy Sandford (48) and John Gibbon (18) stuck around for as long as they could. But their departures triggered a collapse as Tom Facer (5-26) got to work.

Tattenhall were all out for 106 and Stockport replied in confident style.

Opener Rob Barber (38) led from the front, putting paid to anything that got stuck in the wet wicket.

Hyslop mixed up his bowling attack but could not prevent Stockport from reaching 107-6.
