NESTON rose to second place in the Cheshire County League Premier Division after a remarkable victory at bottom club Didsbury.

After dismissing the strugglers for 125 the Parkgate side made 98-3 before a near catastrophic collapse saw them lose six wickets for just five runs.

At 103-9 Jack Smith’s side looked doomed but Byrom Cooper played a crucial innings of 35 as Neston’s final wicket partnership carried them to a victorious 126-9.

Just one week after they rattled up 303-4 against Oxton, OULTON PARK were routed for 50 at Bowdon and lost by nine wickets to the leaders.

Steve Cheetham’s 6-12 was mainly responsible for Park putting on the lowest total in the Premier Division since Bowdon themselves were bowled out for 37 by Urmston in July, 2007.

Bowdon went on to knock off the runs inside 12 overs, reaching 51-1.

OAKMERE were rolled over by table toppers Middlewich in Division Two.

Oakmere remain rooted to the wrong end of the table after being skittled for a mere 121, Paul Guildford hitting 44.

Middlewich made it six wins out of six hitting 122-6.

Craig Phelan’s bowling stood out as he claimed 3-14 off just two overs.

Oakmere Captain Ian Eaton said: “It was disappointing but I thought we competed quite well. We had a few missed chances with dropped balls but ultimately their skipper hit 63.”
