FRODSHAM find themselves lingering at the wrong end of the Cheshire Alliance Division One table after a narrow loss on Saturday.

They went down by just one wicket at Wistaston. Frodsham were dismissed for 129, then Wistaston scored 133-9 to win by one wicket.

In Division Two, SAUGHALL came out on top in a low-scoring thriller at Mossley.

After winning the toss, skipper Chris Andrews put Mossley in to bat first on a saturated pitch and had his brother to thank as early wickets tumbled. Mike Andrews (6-33) took the first six wickets to fall, but Mossley recovered from 30-6 to reach 92 (Chris Andrews 4-18).

In reply, Saughall limped unconvincingly over the finishing line.

The contest was in the balance with the score on 56-7 and 83-8. But when the ninth wicket fell with the scores level, it was left to Mike Andrews (19no) to drive the winnings runs as Saughall made it to 96-9.

Saughall skipper Chris Andrews said: “Although they were perfect bowling conditions and the ball was doing plenty, for the second successive week we didn’t perform at all with the bat. Yet for the second successive week we've salvaged a positive result.”

In Division Three, home side CAPENHURST beat Haslington 2nds by four wickets. Haslington scored 138ao (Homer 3-27, Edge 3-34) before Cape replied with 139-6 (Batty 57).
