SAUGHALL finished in a respectable sixth place in their first season in Division One of the Cheshire Alliance.

On Saturday, they fell to a last-day defeat to title winners Sandbach.

Saughall batted first and posted a below-par 130. Lawrence Gotts and Ben Salisbury finished with 33 and 29 respectively.

In reply, missed chances cost Saughall dear as Sandbach rode their luck to win by seven wickets. Chris Andrews picked up 2-50.

Relegated FRODSHAM lost by 162 runs at home to Trinity, who scored 183-5 before bowling their opponents out for 21.

Chester Boughton Hall Deemons won the Cheshire Women’s League T20 Cup final – by the slenderest of margins.

Rain intervened in their clash against Appleton Tigers so the winner was decided on the run rate – with the Deemons edging it. They scored at 4.226 runs per over, compared to Appleton’s 4.200.

Appleton made 84-7 and the Deemons were 81-4 when the rain came.
