KINGSLEY began life in Meller Braggins League Division Two with victory at home against Bowden Vale.

Batting first, Vale were on 55-5 (Adrian Burden 5-37) before their big-hitting middle order helped them rally to 150-7.

In the second innings Kingsley’s star man was Mark Butcher, unbeaten on 62.

Youngster Chris Dolan (32no) ensured victory by eight wickets with eight overs to spare.

CHOLMONDELEY had to settle for a losing draw in their home opener against Barnton, also in Division Two.

Asked to bat first, Barnton declared on 182-8 thanks to Paul Coot’s impressive 72. In reply, Chum held on to finish on 145-8.
