A SENSATIONAL performance from Gary Forster saw him bag the day’s best bowling figures in any County League division.

Forster claimed 8-60 for TATTENHALL at Brooklands, who were skittled out for 195 (AJ Hart 51, David Madden 50).

The man who stopped Forster getting all 10 wickets was Craig Williamson, although that man Forster was on hand to take a catch from one of the two wickets Williamson claimed.

In reply, Tattenhall closed out the win by reaching 196-7. Paul Kettle was their main man, contributing 84.

In Division One, CHESTER BOUGHTON HALL looked odds on for an overdue victory against Alderley Edge at Filkins Lane while Maroof Khan was at the wicket. But when he was out for a quality 68, Chester collapsed from 170-3 to close on 226-9, five runs short of Alderley’s pre-tea tally of 231 (Ajit Ranjan 6-75, Trevor Fabien 3-78).

OULTON PARK continue to work up steam after a bad patch, but they couldn’t dislodge the Urmston tailenders at Moorside Road and had to be content with 16 draw points.

Rick Moore scored 68 and Ben Spendlove 51 in Oulton’s 267-5dec.

Urmston responded with 228-8, Nathan Dumelow claiming 4-79.

Leaders NESTON suffered their second successive defeat when they were roundly outplayed at Didsbury, who rattled up 212-7 (Chris Finegan 3-62).

Neston were dismissed for 134, Cheshire’s new left-arm spinner Jonny Fawcett taking 4-63.

In Division One, CHRISTLETON drew at Middlewich.

Sri Lankan Iroshan de Silva, who has come good after a slow start, contributed 121 to a season’s best 276-3 at Middlewich, aided by the reliable David Bates (70).

Middlewich got to 167-8 in reply (Paul Allen 3-35).

Bob Evans blasted a fine 218 for Chester Boughton Hall 2nds at Alderley Edge 2nds. Smashing the ball to all quarters of the ground – and even the adjacent tennis courts – Evans dealt almost exclusively in boundaries.

Andy Pembroke’s men closed on 300-3dec. Chester got home by 40 runs with the home side mustering 260.

Powerhouse Evans, who stands 6ft 3in, is the son of former Chester club chairman Phil Evans.

Last Friday, meanwhile, a young Chester side slipped out of the Liverpool Echo KO Trophy at Bootle. The hosts posted 141-9 from their 20 overs (Ranjan 5-22) and Chester managed 113-6 in reply (Robinson 21no, Williams 20no, Law 20).
