A BIG recruitment drive has taken place at Saughall over the winter months.

The Chester club, which narrowly failed to win promotion from Division Two of the Cheshire Alliance last season, has introduced a second team for the 2011 campaign, captained by Steve Elliott.

Club skipper Chris Andrews reports that ‘many promising young players’ have signed up, but there is a void to fill in the bowling department.

This is because opening bowler Dipak Jena has moved to London and will only be able to play in about 50% of Saughall’s fixtures.

Andrews’ men have been knocking on the door to Division One for the last three seasons so they are aiming to finally fulfil their promotion dream in 2011.

The club is also in the process of applying for ClubMark accreditation and, thanks to the hard work by official James Martin, is making good progress with the application.

In Division One, FRODSHAM bagged a mid-table finish in 2010 and will no doubt be looking to push on this year.

As for CAPENHURST, they were relegated from Division Three last summer and will be keen to bounce back at the first time of asking.
