KINGSLEY started their 2013 campaign the same way they ended the 2012 season – by losing away to Woodford.
The home side’s strong batting line-up played positively from the off as they raced into the 90s. The introduction of spin stemmed the run flow, with Ben Pearce (4-34) the pick of the bowlers.
But Woodford rallied towards the end of their innings to finish on a respectable 170-5.
Mark Butcher got Kingsley’s reply off to a solid start with a brisk 20, but a string of single figure scores gave the initiative back to Woodford.
Callum Begg hit some crisp boundaries in his 16 and all-rounder Travis Martin (40) hit two sixes to give Kingsley a sniff of victory. But when the pair became Paul Owen’s fourth and fifth victims, Kinglsey’s chance of a win was snuffed out.
Elsewhere in Division Two of the TACS Partnership Cheshire League, CHOLMONDELEY (195-8) lost at Mere (197-3) and BUNBURY (57) crashed at Chelford (138-9).
In Division Three, BARROW (147-7) bagged a win at Wirral.
