THERE are plenty of changes afoot at Filkins Lane as Chester Boughton Hall prepare to shape up for next year’s Cheshire County League campaign.

Graham Vernon has been named the club’s new chairman, replacing Jim Law, who has resigned after seven successful years in the role.

Law, who will continue to be active within the club, said: “It’s been an honour and a privilege to have been so heavily involved in the development of this great club over the last few years.

“Fortunately there have been more highs than lows and I’ve been lucky enough to have overseen some great occasions, not least our winning the T20 Trophy in 2010.

“It’s been a great journey and I would like to thank those people who have helped the club and me personally during my time in charge.

“I can’t imagine not being involved in the club to some extent in the future and I would like to wish my successor Graham Vernon all the best.”

Steve Ogilby is the club’s new captain, a role he has previously held.

He replaces Jim Gillson, who emigrated to New Zealand earlier this year with his family. Gillson is currently playing first-grade cricket for Stoke Nayland.

Joining the club are former Oxton players Lee Dixon, Mark Rowland and wicket-keeper Matthew Griffiths, as well as Ian Linwood, a quick bowler who captained Upton last year.

All-rounder Daron Cruickshank has returned to his native Trinidad and will not be returning to Chester next year while Jordan Clark has now penned a full-time professional contract with Lancashire. He will play next season for Burnley in the Lancashire League.

Oulton Park have been bolstered by the return of pace bowler Guy Emmett from Grappenhall, with Ric Moore and Craig Williamson expected back after missing most of the 2011 campaign due to injury.

The new club chairman of Malpas is Mark Jones. He takes over the role from Jon Suckley, who becomes first team captain.
