THE legendary Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff will come out of retirement to play in Chester tomorrow.

The former England and Lancashire all-rounder will be involved in two sold-out events organised by Chester Boughton Hall – and a 30-over match at the club’s Filkins Lane ground.

Flintoff is returning to the Cheshire County League Premier Division title challengers following a successful visit last summer.

Boughton Hall chairman Jim Law said: “We’re delighted. He came last year and it was a great success.

“He was very popular with the kids. He took time to talk to them and stayed after the event had finished.

“He’s back this year, partly because of the work that our first-team captain Jim Gillson does with his charity, the Andrew Flintoff Foundation.”

As well as playing in the game – which will also feature the former Lancashire captain Neil Fairbrother and an assortment of Boughton Hall players – Flintoff will take part in a question and answer session in the Filkins Lane clubhouse.

The session will be hosted by Gillson, who will ask the 33-year-old about current cricketing issues as well as Flintoff’s own glittering playing career, which ended last year due to a persistent knee injury.

Later on in the evening the Ashes hero will appear at the Chester Boughton Hall Summer Ball at Chester Racecourse, where he will be interviewed by ITV new presenter and former Chester Chronicle journalist Lucy Meacock

Those yet to purchase tickets to the question and session or the Summer Ball will be disappointed as they have long since sold out.

But there is still a chance to see Flintoff in action.

Law said: “The 30-over match is not ticketed. Anyone can come down to watch the game and use our clubhouse.”

The match is scheduled to start around 3pm.
