ALVANLEY’S big hitters and deadly marksmen claimed the plaudits at the club’s end-of-season awards.

The Frodsham Road club’s first team finished a respectable fifth in Meller Braggins League Division One while the second team had the Champagne corks popping after a dramatic final-day victory earned promotion.

Andy Bennion topped the 500-runs mark but he was pipped to the batting award by David Shewring, who notched 455 runs and also took 53 wickets.

Bowling award went to Robin Fisher, who claimed 64 wickets, while wicketkeeper Chris Fletcher took home the overall contribution award.

Second team captain Nick Geddis dominated their statistics with 474 runs and 32 wickets but he was delighted to present the batting award to Chris Jones, who made 350 runs.

The bowling award went to 17-year-old Ed Speakman, who claimed 20 wickets, while overall contribution award went to James Pallister, who made 225 runs and took 21 wickets.
