HARTFORD CC's biggest challenge next year is to attain the Clubmark Award.

The Sport England-backed scheme set standards of coaching and a 'safe environment' for children. Northwich and Oulton Park are the only local cricket clubs to have so far received the Clubmark, but Hartford, who have a young but growing junior section, aim to be next.

The target was confirmed at the annual meeting when Rob Whittle was appointed captain and Neil Hart his deputy, with Rob Simpson and Tom Moore taking up the same roles in the 2nd Xl.

Jim Rafferty was elected president and John Prew chairman.

Matthew Shinkfield, who amassed more than 600 runs during the season and ended the campaign with a string of half-centuries, won the Cheshire Alliance averages and top bat awards.
