NORTHWICH Cricket Club have won a £3,000 grant to repair practice nets ruined by vandals nearly 12 months ago.

The Cheshire Community Council Local Network Fund has come up with the money to make good the nets, which underwent a series of running repairs and were never in constant use.

Northwich juniors missed out on coaching sessions. Matting will also be repaired in time for the start of the season next month.

Former England and Essex bowler Mark Ilott will be present as a representative of RAM Cricket and offering a range of equipment and clothing.

Northwich have the biggest junior section of all Mid Cheshire clubs, but are still keen to recruit. Anyone between the ages of seven and 19 requiring further information can contact the club on 01606 74373.

* Middlewich have a diesel powered one-tonne pitch roller for sale. It was used continuously on the Haddon Field square until replaced for this winter. Chairman Richard Goulding is listening to offers around £500 on 01606 834428.
