SAUGHALL earned a well-deserved draw in their crunch clash with fellow Cheshire Alliance Division Two title contenders Audlem on Saturday.

The results stretches the under-strength Jubilee Park outfit’s unbeaten run to five matches and was their reward for failing to be daunted by the home team’s big total.

Saughall started well enough, with Mandeep Singh (2-58) claiming an early scalp, but the second-placed Nantwich side fought back with some lusty blows to post 214-9dec despite the best effort of stand-in skipper Mike Andrews (5-78).

The visitors were without four of their top-seven batsman and so their prospects of taking anything from the game did not look good when they lost their first three wickets for just 57 runs. But thanks to the big-hitting Mike Rowson (52) – with his first half-century for the club – and James Huxley (63no), they finished comfortably on 190-6.

FRODSHAM picked up an excellent Division One draw at home to Chelford on Saturday.

Second-placed Chelford fired 202-7 before the hosts replied with 142-9 (Christian Sandbach 42, Jonathan Lewis 41).

CAPENHURST were well beaten by nine wickets in Division Three on Saturday at high-flying Didsbury 5ths, who cruised to 86-1 having snaffled their visitors up for 84.
