CHRIS Andrews took career-best figures as Saughall produced a polished all-round performance to beat Mossley on Saturday and claim their first victory of the Division Two season.

The spin king snaffled 8-36 to almost single-handedly skittle the Congleton visitors for 147.

Mandeep Singh and Lawrence Gotts laid the foundations’ for Andrews’ man-of-the-match winning display with tight opening spells before the latter played a starring role with the bat.

Gotts (61no), whose impressive form has led to him being bumped up the order, brought up his first half-century for the club and shared an excellent second-wicket partnership of 85 with Martin Huxley (40).

With menacing black clouds looming overhead, it was left to up to Saughall’s ‘Mr Dependable’ Adam Griffiths (33no) to see his side to 149-2 with eight overs to spare.

Promoted FRODSHAM broke their Division One duck with a 146-run romp over Wistaston Village.

The hosts set 224-9 with Matt Williamson leading the way with a superb 138no before Richard Warburton (6-31) finished Wistaston off for 78.

CAPENHURST’S Division Three clash at Haslington 2nds was abandoned because of rain with the away team up to 38-4 in reply to 120 (M Edge 4-31).
