STEVE Barnes smashed an un-beaten century as Wistaston Village got back to winning ways.

After a disappointing opening-day defeat, the Villagers were looking to kick-start their Division One campaign.

Visitors Chester CO were put into bat at the Brittles and they were restricted to 166-6 from 48 overs thanks to solid bowling from Chris Townsend (2-20) and James Hogben (2-24). Top scorer for Chester was S Johnson with 46 not out.

In reply, Wistaston again got off to the worst possible start by losing three wickets for 22 runs. But a brilliant 102 not out from Barnes, which included 12 fours and three sixes put them right on target.

His fourth-wicket partnership with Steve Collins (43no) was worth 141, and saw Wistaston home with 170-5 after 37 overs.

Aston pipped Sandbach by 26 runs. Although it did not look on when Aston batted first and were all out for 102. But the hosts were bowled out for 76 in reply with Andrew Leese taking 5-32.

Bunbury sealed victory at Barclays Radbroke Hall by three wickets. Hall made first use and notched 172-8 with L Forsythe making 87 and P Cain taking 5-32. Bun-bury won with 173-7 thanks to Lee Greenbury (44) and P McBennett (31).

In Division Two, Wilmslow Wayfarers won by 8 wickets at Audlem, who batted first and were bowled out for 145 (P Dean 36). Wayfarers won with 149-2.

Wistaston 2nds enjoyed a comfortable six-wicket victory over Chester CO 2nds. Julien Cotton (4-29) and Andy Jones (3-30) starred as the Villagers dismissed the home side for 138. In reply Neil Steadman (39) and skipper Adie Robinson (44 no) paved the way to 139-4.
