CAPENHURST tumbled to a narrow three-wicket home defeat to Glazebury 2nds in Division Three.
The hosts scored 186ao with Guy Tilby leading the way on 35. Glazebury then responded with 187-7, A Walkling taking 3-56.
In Division One, basement side FRODSHAM went down by 93 runs at Aston. The hosts posted 210-3 and then bowled out Frodsham for 117.
In Division Two, SAUGHALL made it three wins from three after a successful run-chase against Rostherne. Saughall’s Dipak Jena (3-35) dismissed the visiting openers to leave the score 57-2 before a 56-run fourth-wicket partnership frustrated Saughall.
The introduction of spin into the attack spurred a flurry of wickets with Chris Andrews (3-45) the chief tormentor as Rostherne ended on 179-6.
With Martin Huxley on holiday and twin brother James nursing a knee injury sustained in the first innings, it meant that for the first time in years Saughall’s opening partnership did not include a Huxley. Ben Salisbury (17) and Mike Andrews (5) took up the mantle and both fell with the score on 25 as Rostherne made a promising start.
The score dipped to 100-5 as Saughall’s run-chase faltered but Jena (39no) proved to be the perfect foil for Adam Griffiths (66no) as the hosts won it by reaching 181-5.
