BARNTON'S cricketers reflected on a mixed season at their annual presentation evening.

The 1st XI made a poor start but had rallied strongly to finish mid-table with late-season wins over both promoted teams. They will be looking to mount a promotion challenge of their own in 2007.

The 2nd XI performed well, overwhelming the weaker teams in their division, but a few poor results cost them dear, eventually just missing out on promotion.

A welcome feature was the re-launch of the junior section and the coaches are keen to build on their success and field teams in the local junior competitions next year.

The awards, presented by club stalwart George Haspell, were: 1st XI, Batting Ben Wingfield, Bowling Neil Langham, Fielding (Norton Bucket) Christian Watkins, Players' Player of Year Matt Morphet, Captain's Player of Year Neil Langham. 2nd XI: Batting Keith Noden, Bowling Danny Hancock, Fielding Danny Hancock, Players' Player of Year Danny Hancock, Captain's Player of Year Andy Gregory; Over 40s Player of Year Phil Wingfield; Chairman's Award for Service to Cricket Derek Bowyer.
