This season The Chester  Chronicle will be showing  support for two Blues heroes,  writes Mark Dowling.

Keen Chester FC fan and  flag-maker Sean O’Reilly  teamed up with Chronicle  photographer Ian Cooper to  create two enormous 10ft flags  which will be proudly going  on display at the Deva  Stadium ready for the club’s  first year back in The Skrill  Premier.

One of the flags features  defender George Horan, who  has captained the side to three  titles, while the other features  manager Neil Young.

Sean explained where the  idea came from.

He said: “It was just an idea  that came to me as I was  travelling into work.

“The club of old had many  heroes and in George Horan  we have our own local boy  who is very much a hero.

“I thought it would be good  to do something to celebrate  that and maybe provide an  inspiration to the other  players.

“The flag turned out so big  it’s actually too large to be  waved about, so it’s going to  be hung on one of the walls  inside the club.

“With Neil Young, he gives  the fans everything that they  want and more. He has rode  the crest of a wave and we  would never have thought we  would be where we are now.”

Sean added the club was  looking for flag-waving  families to get in touch to  boost matchday atmosphere.  For more details, call 01244  371376.
