THE Jets welcome Worthing Thunder to the Northgate Arena this evening (5.30pm) in confident mood after they maintained their BBL Championship charge with a comfortable victory at the Wolves last night.

Seven players made double figures for Paul Smith’s fourth-placed side, with Shawn Myers (16), Paul Peterson (16) and Frank Phifer (14) doing most of the damage.

The Jets, who scored 22 points off turnovers, started slowly but hit back to lead at the end of the first period by a single point.

It was just as tight in the second, with the hosts moving into a 50-44 advantage before a Colin O’Reilly three-pointer and some ice-cool Steven Gayle shooting from the free-throw line tied the score at 50-50 going into the locker rooms.

And from that point on, the visitors never looked back, winning the third period by nine points and the fourth by seven.
