TCS Chester Jets missed the chance to go top of the BBL on Sunday as they slumped to a surprise 84-81 defeat at home to Thames Valley Tigers, who completed a weekend double after beating Brighton Bears to end an eight-match losing streak.

The Tigers led 15-31 at the end of the first thanks to a 10-0 run in the space of a minute with 4:40 left on the clock.

They closed the first by stunning the Jets with a 13-5 tear, nine of these points came from beyond the arc.

Tough play from the Jets saw them narrow the lead across the second and third periods, the significant run coming four minutes before half time as they scored 10 unanswered points.

Jets, still without skipper Calvin Davis, managed to take the lead at 53-52 in the third, but Thames Valley showed great resilience to regain a four point advantage at 62-66 by the end of the quarter.

Their lead was as big as nine in the final stanza at 64-73 but the Jets came back strongly. With 22 seconds remaining it was a one point ball game, but with Tigers leading 81-82 influential Chester guard Trey Moore fouled out and sent the visitors to the line. They made both free throws to secure the victory at 81-84.

Nick Moore for Thames Valley andMoore for Chester led all scorers as they tied on 24 points.

Jets won 99-86 at Milton Keynes Lions on Friday night.

They took control with an 11-2 finish to the first quarter and looked to have the game in the bag with a 10-3 start to the third quarter leaving them 63-37 in front.

A resilent Lions team, still missing Shawn Jamison with a knee injury, fought back strongly in the final stanza trimming the lead to just five with a minute to play at 86-91.

Jets regained their composure and bagged the final eight points of the game, mostly from the charity stripe, to seal the win.
