TCS Chester Jets condemned Newcastle Eagles to only their second defeat of the season at the quarter-final stage of the BBL Cup on Sunday night.
And victory avenged Jets' first defeat of the campaign in the BBL at the hands of the Eagles and they now look forward to the semi-finals at Ponds Forge, Sheffield on November 28.
The Eagles opened strongly as they took a 6-0 lead, but Jets bounced straight back with an 8-0 tear of their own to take the lead, which they held for the rest of the quarter.
In the second, Chester had a 12-2 burst in the first five minutes which took the lead to 34-23, but some strong play from Frank Bennett kept the Eagles in it with a deficit of only six points at half-time (43-37).
In the third stanza the Eagles managed to take the lead after a 17-3 tear which made the score 53-56. The score remained close and at 75-74 with a minute left Eagles' player-coach Fab Flournoy fouled out.
This was followed by a series of free-throws as the Jets closed the game out from the foul line.
Jeremy Hyatt led all scorers with 25 points closely followed by Jets' Trey Moore who had 23.
In the semi-finals of the BBL Cup Chester Jets will meet Scottish Rocks and Milton Keynes meet Brighton Bears.
The games will be played on November 28 at Ponds Forge, Sheffield.
