TCS Chester Jets missed the chance to go joint top of the BBL after slumping to a shock home defeat by Milton Keynes Lions on Sunday.

They thought they had done the hard part of their weekend programme by being the first team to beat London Towers this season when they went to Crystal Palace on Saturday and beat the leaders 78-60.

But they gave their worst performance of the season 24 hours later, going down 75-72 at the Northgate Arena.

In a tight game the Jets took the score out to 30-23 in the second period and ultimately held the lead at 39-33 at the half.

The second half saw the Lions fight back and with the help of some quality shooting from three-point range by Brett Longpre, the Lions took the lead at 54-53 at the start of the final quarter.

However, the Jets came back with an 8-0 burst of their own to lead 61-56, but they could not hold on to the lead as Longpre scored the final eight points for the Lions to hand them the victory.

Longpre ended the game leading all scorers with 26 points, while Trey Moore led the Jets scoring with 17.
