JAMAL Brown made an impressive debut for Jets as they swept into the semi-finals of the BBL Cup.

The former ABA Geelong Supercats forward/centre notched 12 boards and 15 points as Jets put their defeat at Guildford behind them against Brighton Bears.

In the first quarter Jets took a 26-14 lead, and the pattern continued in the second with Myers in top form as the took a 52-30 lead.

Having lost the previous night's match at Guild-ford late on, Jets were determined to make their lead count in the final quarter and they extended their advantage to 22 points at 89-67.

As Jets coasted to victory Bears scored further points to reduce the winning margin to 94-82.

Shawn Myers top-scored with 35 points, while Jamal Brown claimed 15, Billy Singleton took 14 and Anthony Martin 13.

Meanwhile, coach Singleton is hoping that the signing of 26-year-old Jamal Brown will continue to boost his struggling side with his powerful physical presence after a fine debut.

Singleton said: 'He's an excellent rebounder and a very aggressive player and those are attributes that we want him to maintain here. He's a very good dunker and a super athlete.'

Brown has previously played two seasons for Geelong Supercats in the Australian ABA and has also had spells in Argentina and Finland since graduating from Texas Christian University in 2003.

On Sunday Jets travel to Newcastle for the semi-final of the BBL Cup at the Metro-radio Arena. Tip-off: 5.30pm.
