CHESTER Jets bounced back from Saturday's first defeat in the BBL Championship at Leicester to defeat Newcastle Eagles, 92-83, and progress to the semi-finals of the National Cup and a clash with Thames Valley Tigers.

Robbie Peers' men came roaring out of the blocks and led 26-12 after the first quarter. Following a close second quarter, Jets managed a 9-2 third quarter tear to extend their lead out to 61-47, before Eagles, who lost Fabulous Flournoy to injury in the third, rallied to reduce the deficit to 68-58 heading into the fourth quarter.

Eagles, who were beaten by Jets in the uniball trophy final last season, hit back strongly early in the fourth and a 13-1 run reduced the arrears to just three points at 82-79.

But that was to be as close as the Eagles got as John McCord bagged seven late points to seal the win for Chester. Jets' Calvin Davis and Eagles' Shawn Myers each bagged a game-high 23 points.

John Thomas finished with 21 and McCord 20.

* Leicester Riders put an end to the only 100% record in the BBL Championship, inflicting Chester Jets' first defeat of the season by 105-88 on Saturday night.

Riders' John Gaines made the decisive run, scoring 12 in row in the final quarter to extend Riders' 79-73 lead to put the game beyond doubt at 91-73.

Earlier it had been the Jets who started brighter, leading 33-21 after a quarter. Riders' Jermaine Brown led all scorers with 34 points.

Jets: Davis 27, McCord 19, Cameron and Hamilton 17.
