BIG Storage Cheshire Jets secured a vital win in their bid for a play-off place with a superb victory over the struggling Raiders.
The Jets led from tip to buzzer and flew out of the blocks, scoring 12 of the first 14 points to take control.
After the teams traded baskets for much of the quarter, Jets then closed out the first with an 8-2 burst to take a commanding 31-13 lead to the bench.
After an even second period, the Raiders mounted a comeback at the start of the third as a 10-2 run cut the lead back to 54-44. However, Jets responded instantly with a 14-2 tear taking the lead out to 68-46 just before the end of the quarter.
Inside the final quarter, the Raiders scored the final six points of the game to reduce the margin. Jets’ Alto Virgil led the scoring with 20 personal points, followed by Phil Perre 14, Frank Phifer 13, Calvin Davis 13.
This Friday, Jets take on Everton Tigers away (7.30pm) and on Sunday host Worthing Thunder (5.30pm).
