Cheshire Phoenix have shown their intention to challenge for honours next season with the addition of three new faces to their roster.

After adding BBL legend David Aliu to their squad the previous week and tying last season's MVP Devan Bailey to a new two-year deal, the Nix completed a triple swoop over the weekend, securing the signatures of American/French point guard Aleek Pauline and forwards Demond Watt and Croatian Aleksandar Sasha Cuic.

Pauline, 26, arrives at the Northgate Arena from German side Villsbiburg in the Regionalliga where he averaged 16.9 points per game last season. A graduate of Norfolk State University, Virginia, 6ft 1ins Pauline holds dual American and French citizenship and hails from South Jamaica, Queens, New York.

Standing at 6ft 7ins, Chicago native Watt has joined the Nix from Icelandic side KR, having had previous spells in Finland, Sweden and with USA Independent Basketball Association side Gary Splash in Indiana. Watt graduated from Texas A&M College back in 2011 and will prove a valuable addition to the Nix roster.

Completing the trio of new faces at the Northgate is Rijeka-born Croatian Cuic, 30, who has joined the Nix revolution from Croatian side Kvarner 2010. The 6ft 10ins, a graduate of Oregon State, has also taken in spells in Turkey and Iran as well as a stint in the NBA D-League, the feeder league to the NBA, where he turned out for New Mexico Thunderbirds.

Nix chairman Andrew Donaldson said: "These additions, along with Devan and David Aliu, show our ambition and our intentions to be serious challengers next season.

"All three guys arrive with an excellent basketball pedigree and it makes things really exciting for us looking ahead to next season."
