TCS Chester Jets had a weekend of mixed fortunes with a narrow defeat in Scotland and an unexpectedly difficult game against pointless Birmingham Bullets on Sunday night.

Scottish Rocks took a share of second spot in the BBL Championship on Friday night with a 103-102 victory over the Jets for whom this was their second successive one-point defeat.

Rocks looked to take control with an 8-2 start to the final quarter, which put them 87-80 in front. The Jets had other ideas and, led by Calvin Davis' game high 27 points, they led 102-101 in the last 30 seconds with possession of the ball.

But Junior Williams came up with the steal to feed Jerry Williams for the crucial score for the Rocks with just seconds remaining.Niki Arinze and Williams led Rocks' scoring with 24 points each, matched by Michael Nurse for the Jets.

Jets had to fight off a spirited Birmingham to pick up their eighth win of the season and take a share of second place in the BBL Championship table on Sunday.

They beat Bullets 99-90 in an enthralling encounter at the Northgate Arena after a tight game. There was nothing between the two sides, tied as they were 29-29 after the first quarter, but Jets pulled away in the second to lead by ten points at half-time at 54-44 and kept their noses in front in the third.

Leading by seven points at 77-70 heading into the final quarter, the Bullets rallied and took the lead at 86-84 with five minutes remaining.

However, foul trouble caught up with them and a 15-4 burst from Jets secured the points for the home side. Trey Moore led all scorers with 35 for Bullets.
