Jo Leedham will return to action with Great Britain this weekend as they bid to qualify for next year’s EuroBasket competition.
The Chester-born 28-year-old, from Ellesmere Port, has been in excellen t club form for French side Bourges Basket this season and will be aiming to help GB revive its prospects of reaching a fourth consecutive appearance at EuroBasket Women Final Round.
Under the stewardship of head coach Jose Maria Buceta, Leedham and fellow London 2012 Olympians including Azania Stewart face a crucial two games on their home court at the National Basketball Centre at Belle Vue Sports Village in Manchester.
They face Albania in the first of their Group C clashes on Saturday (7pm tip) before locking horns with a strong Montenegro side on Wednesday, February 24 (7pm).
Leedham has been the poster girl for British women’s basketball over the past six years and honed her skills with the Ellesmere Port-based Cheshire Panthers as a youngster.
Having played US college basketball at Franklin Pierce University, the same alma mater as her sister Jennifer, Leedham has gone on to forge an impressive professional career that has taken in spells in Australia, Poland and now France.
Tickets for GB’s clashes with Albania and Montenegro are priced at £8 for adults and £5 for children with doors opening at 6pm.
