A FLOCK of Eagles grounded BiG Storage Cheshire Jets yesterday, inflicting an eighth successive defeat on Paul Smith’s BBL Championship strugglers.

The loss to Newcastle Eagles was led by a former Jets player, Trey Moore, who blitzed his previous employers with a 30-point stand to lead all scorers.

The Jets were never really up to the pace of their opponents in a match played at their second home in Warrington, rather than Chester.

The Eagles had a 10-point lead at the end of the first quarter and a 12-point break midway through the second helped extend that to 62-40 by half time.

Chez Marks put 23 points on the board but, with Newcastle in top form, the Jets needed everyone to have an exceptional game and it did not happen.

The Eagles always had an extra gear and worked through them smoothly, leading 81-59 by the end of the third period.

Despite 17 points from Shawn Myers and 14 from Phil Perre to back up Marks’ scoring for the Jets, the Eagles won comfortably in the end. They extended their lead in the dying minutes to illustrate their dominance and give them 10 wins in the last 11 meetings between the sides.
