CHESTER Jets boss Mike Burton is backing his players to bounce back from two consecutive defeats this weekend when they take on the two best sides in the country.

The Jets travel to BBL Championship leaders Guildford Heat tonight to face a side who have only lost twice at home all season.

And on Sunday they play host to second-placed Sheffield Sharks who arrive at Northgate Arena just two points off the top. Peter Scan-tlebury's men are in formidable form this season and have not been beaten by any side out-side the top two since October.

The Jets, meanwhile, cannot boast such impressive form and after surrendering leads to both Plymouth Raiders and London United last weekend, they are now just one place off the bottom of the league.

But head coach Burton says that if the players can rediscover their killer touch, then vital league points are still very much within their reach.

He said: 'We have got to learn to put teams away when we are in the lead. You can't carry on being two points in the lead with seconds to go and lose.

'But we've got a lot of talented players in our squad and, knowing the lads, they'll bounce back from the two defeats.

'Our form before last week was impressive with three wins from four games so we know we can perform.

'We've just got to get going again and learn to put these teams away when we are on top.'

Jets have not faced Guildford since October when the Heat eased their way to a 72-90 victory at the Northgate. That night, Jets' leading points scorer Jaz Cowan managed just 14 but he will have to be on top form this weekend if his side are to record what would be a famous result.

As for Sunday's home meeting with Sheffield, Burton says that revenge is very much on the cards after Jets only lost in overtime when last visiting the Sharks' Hallam Arena.

He said: 'We are going to have a good week's training and work really hard so that we are prepared to face two tough teams this weekend.

'Last time around at Sheffield, we were only defeated in overtime so we can definitely get close to them ag ain.' n Action starts tonight at 7.30pm, while tip-off against Sheffield at the Northgate on Sunday is 5.30pm.
