An open letter from Mike Burton to all Jets fans

I regret to have to inform you that I will be retiring both as coach and director.

I have been involved with the Jets for 19 years and experienced some tremendous highs and really enjoyed the fantastic support of you, the fans.

At times the hairs on the back of my neck have stood up when you have got behind the team singing songs like 'stand up if you love the Jets'.

Unfortunately, times have changed and the sport no longer enjoys the coverage and exposure that it once did, making it very difficult for a club like ours to function at the level at which we would like.

I have made my position clear to our hard-working committee and feel one of three things will happen now. 1. Someone will come forward and take over the running of the club/team. 2. We will 'park' the club for a year,

making it possible for the team to compete in season 2008-09.3. The franchise will move to another location close to Chester.

I wish you all the very best for the future and thank you once again for your tremendous support over the years.

Yours affectionately,

'Burt'
