TCS Chester Jets ended Sheffield Sharks' title hopes on Saturday night with a 88-74 victory at Ponds Forge.

But they did their chances of a home tie in the play-offs no good at all when they lost a pulsating game to Newcastle Eagles at the Northgate on Sunday, 92-94 in overtime.

At Sheffield, a close game saw the Jets 46-43 down after the second period.

They finally turned on the style in the third and eased clear in the fourth. Jets' Michael Nurse led all scorers with 24 points, while Ryan Huntley and John McCord had 18 each.

The game on Sunday was close throughout as both teams strove for the best possible league finish and possible home advantage in the play-offs.

After the game ended tied at 85-85 after normal time, McCord had the chance to win the game for Chester but missed three foul shots before the Eagles stole in to score the winning basket. Calvin Davis top scored for the Jets with 27.
