Cheshire Phoenix have swooped to sign giant centre Kaj-Bjorn Sherman.
The 24-year-old, who is 7ft tall, played Division One basketball at the University of Texas-San Antonio where he averaged 12 points and seven rebounds per game in his senior year.
Sherman holds a British passport and joins the Phoenix having played a season in the Spanish LEB Silver league.
New Nix coach Colin O’Reilly said: "Kaj brings great size and rim protection for us with excellent ball screen defence. He has good experience from a year in Spain with quality per minute production."
He becomes O’Reilly’s third signing of the summer, with the Nix still to announce their 'import' positions.
O’Reilly added: “ Kaj is a patient finisher around the rim, and can knock down the mid-range shot when needed.”
Sherman said: "I am excited to be joining this young Phoenix team with a lot of potential. I can’t wait to help the team and fans make a lot of noise this year.”
Details regarding the Nix pre-season schedule will be announced in the coming days.
