Scores of budding basketball aces have made the most of a week-long summer camp thanks to Cheshire Phoenix.

Youngsters aged from seven to 22 from the local area and as far flung as Dubai, Turkey and France took part in the popular annual event.

Basketball camp director Andy Green said: “The purpose of it is to give those taking part basic basketball skills and developing other skills in education, such as sport psychology.

“We have had absolutely fantastic feedback from kids and parents. The children taking part put a lot of effort into it – the more they put in, the more they get out.

“The winner of the camp, who won first prize of a trip to America, was in floods of tears, he was overjoyed and it meant so much. It shows the determination of the kids.

“The coaches on this camp from junior to senior development have been dedicated from 7.30am to 11.30pm. Everything they do is for the benefit of the children and we have previous camp winners coming back for each new year.

“This camp was very successful, year on year it gets better and we have started the process of seeing what we can improve on and hope to start announcing dates for next year soon.”
