Cheshire Phoenix are on the hunt for new recruits after announcing that leading scorer Jordan Williams would not be returning for the second half of the season.
Williams, 23, returned back to his Texas home for the Christmas period but will not be back in a Cheshire jersey in the New Year owing to personal circumstance back home in the USA.
But the door has not been closed on a return for the popular shooting guard, who lead the BBL in scoring with 22.3 points per game, and he could yet return to the club for next season.
Williams said: "I want to thank everyone. With such great fans, teammates, I am devastated I wont be able to finish the season."
Williams, who hit 21 points in his final game for the club against Newcastle Eagles last week, has been one of the standout recruits this season in what has been his rookie professional season having arrived at the Nix following a stellar NCAA Division One college career at the University of North Texas.
The departure of Williams and Olu Babalola, released earlier in the month, mean that the club are now on the lookout for at least two players, with a replacement shooting guard and a starting point guard top of their shopping list. And Williams' departure paves the way for another American to join the club, with one import spot available.
But with a trip to rock-bottom Manchester Giants on Sunday, January 3 (6pm) less than a week away, the Nix will have to move swiftly if they are to bolster their options prior to facing Yorick Williams' charges.
