Cheshire Phoenix pulled away in the second half to defeat Surrey Scorchers 104-74 to move into sixth spot.

Quincy Taylor led the way with 23 points, seven rebounds and eight assists, while Danny Huffor and Kinu Rochford contributed big scores with 22 and 21 points respectively as Cheshire blew away the Scorchers with a fine display - their biggest success of the season.

Cheshire scored 10 unanswered points early on, but the visitors responded well and took their first lead at 17-19. In the second, the home side went on a 14-3 run to begin to pull away only to be pegged back by the Scorchers once again as an 11-0 reply put them up by one.

However, three-pointers from Taylor and David Aliu ensured Cheshire went into half-time with a lead and they continued the momentum when play resumed in the third. A dominant 19-5 spell saw Phoenix establish a 20-plus cushion.

The lead soared above 30 points in the final quarter as the hosts moved into triple figures in style late on. Mike Anderson closed the game with back-to-back triples to finish with 24 points along with 10 rebounds as the Scorchers drop to 7-24.

There was time for Cheshire fans to get a glimpse into the future as three products of the club's academy set-up all saw court time towards the end of the clash, with Max Jones, Ben Goodacre and Luke Gosney all appearing, much to the delight of the home faithful.

Cheshire climb above London Lions into sixth after improving to 14-17 and are on the cusp of securing their place in the BBL Play-Offs.
