THE dates for Jets’ big BBL Cup semi-final showdown with MK Lions have been confirmed.
The Jets will make their way to the home of the 2008 winners for the first leg on Friday, November 27 before welcoming the Lions to the Northgate Arena on Sunday, December 6 for the second-leg decider.
Paul Smith’s side sealed their place in the last four with a thrilling quarter-final victory over Newcastle Eagles earlier this month – the first time they have got the better of last season’s BBL Championship, Trophy and Play-Off winners in 10 games.
Jets head coach Smith said: “We are in a great position going in to the semi-finals having already beaten the Lions once this season. We know it’ll be a close match-up as they are a strong side led by a great coach. But we are ready for them. We are playing well as a team and our new signings are coming into their own.
“More importantly it’s great for our loyal fans. A trip to Birmingham would reward their support and allow them to see their team back competing in the big games.”
If the Jets can tame the Lions, they would book their ticket to the final, which will be held at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham on Sunday, January 17.
Leicester Riders will meet the winner of tomorrow’s last-eight tie between Sheffield Sharks and Everton Tigers in the other semi-final.
