CHEZ Marks led all-scorers as Jets posted a convincing victory at the Northgate Arena last night.

The American ace bagged 24 points to ensure his team followed up Saturday’s success at Worcester Wolves with a second win of the weekend.

James Hamilton chipped in with 19 and Shawn Myers hit 17 but the result was marred slightly by an injury to Colin O’Reilly, who was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital after falling awkwardly on his ankle two minutes from time.

Thankfully, initial tests revealed that the Irishman had not suffered a break – but there is tendon and soft tissue damage.

A full assessment will be carried out by Jets doctors today to determine how long he will be sidelined for.

Jets head coach Paul Smith said: “'The result was a very pleasing victory, but it was tainted by Colin’s injury.”

The Thunder were fastest out of the blocks, racing into a 15-5 lead, but Jets had pegged it back to 22-21 by the end of the first quarter.

In the second period, Jets scored the final nine points of the half to assume a 48-37 advantage – and they never looked back.

The penultimate stanza saw the Jets push ahead further, and they led by as many as 16 points at one point.

In the final quarter, Myers hit four shots consecutively, three of them from behind the arc, to firmly put the hosts in charge.

The result leaves Jets in joint third position in the BBL table, six points off the summit but with three games in hand over leaders Sheffield Sharks, who head to the Northgate this Sunday.
