JETS’ search for a big man to complete their roster has ended with the signing of 6ft 9in forward Frank Phifer.

He has joined from Spanish LEB Bronze League club Juventud de Cordoba.

Phifer finished his college career with Washburn University last year as the team’s leading scorer with an average 15.3 points per game.

Jets Head Coach Paul Smith said: “Frank is a versatile player – able to score in a number of ways. We will be looking to him to pull down rebounds at both ends of the court.

“We have been lacking a bit of presence in the paint recently, and hopefully Frank will help us sort this out. Together with the steel and drive that Phil Perre has brought to the team, we are looking forward to achieving the same kind of results that the very start of the season was bringing.”

But Jets may be without their latest signing against Sheffield Sharks on Sunday if they cannot get the necessary clearances.
