BBL Championship leaders Newcastle Eagles took full advantage of the fact Cheshire are currently in limbo to claim a blow-out victory at Sport Central.

With much of Cheshire's attention on the campaign to preserve the franchise it was a unlikely to expect that they could pull off a shock win over the Eagles and so it proved as the Eagles began with a 10-2 run.

Cheshire never recovered from that slow start and by the second period the Eagles had stretched out an 18-point lead.

Chez Marks, always willing to put up a shot, tried to get Cheshire back into the game but the Eagles, with a fulsome bench and plenty of BBL experience, continued to pull away in the third.

Their control of proceedings was evident in Marks' top score for the visitors of just 17 points.

On Sunday Cheshire entertain Durham Wildcats at the Northgate Arena (5.30pm)
